The analysis of known approaches to image quality enhancement 
through local contrast amplification is carried out. 
Additive and multiplicative image models are used. 
These models get out from local contrast definition. 
It is shown that method for unsharp masking concludes 
from the absolute local contrast enhancement method. 
General difference methods for image quality enhancement 
by amplification of different type local contrast are proposed.
