The spectral approach was proposed to use to describe the texture image zones of cutting tools wear. The structure and software implementation of the image processing and recognition system of the texture defect areas of cutting tools were developed. Computer simulation of the processing and recognition texture images of defect's zones of cutting tools and evaluation of the system quality work were performed. The got results create prospects for the forming "maps of texture's classes" for cutting part tools, which representing one or another mechanism of wear on the different areas of contact surfaces of cutting tools.
